Wind Turbine - Development According to Parameters
Design and development of small wind turbine according to client's specific parameters

1Challenge
The client needed to design a small wind turbine with 5 kW output for off-grid applications. Requirements included efficient operation at low wind speeds, quiet operation, resistance to extreme weather conditions, and simple maintenance. The turbine had to be compatible with various generator types and include a braking system for safety.
2Solution
We designed a horizontal axis turbine with three blades optimized using CFD analysis for maximum efficiency at low wind speeds. Blades were designed from composite material for lightness and durability. We implemented a pitch control system for optimizing blade angle according to wind speed. The design included a robust nacelle with generator, gearbox, and braking system. We also created a system for automatic wind alignment and overload protection.
3Results
The turbine achieved 42% efficiency at wind speed of 6 m/s and began generating energy from 3 m/s. Noise level was below 45 dB at 100 m distance. The prototype successfully passed testing in various weather conditions including strong wind and icing. The client deployed several units into operation and plans additional installations.
