1Challenge

A startup wanted to create a mobile hydroponic system in a shipping container for year-round vegetable growing. The challenge included space optimization, climate control in enclosed space, low-energy lighting, irrigation automation, and growth monitoring. The system had to be self-sufficient and capable of operating in various climatic conditions.

2Solution

We designed a modular system with multi-level growing racks for maximum space utilization. We implemented an air conditioning system with temperature, humidity, and CO2 control. LED lighting was optimized for plant growth with ability to adjust spectrum according to growth phase. Automatic irrigation system with nutrient solution recirculation included pH and EC sensors. We created a control system with IoT sensors and remote monitoring capability via app.

3Results

The system was able to produce up to 500 kg of vegetables monthly on 30 m² area. Energy consumption was 60% lower than traditional greenhouses thanks to LED lighting and efficient air conditioning system. Automation reduced the need for human labor to a minimum. The startup successfully deployed several units and expanded to additional locations.
